LISTr

LISTr is a conceptual app that functions as a manual grocery list creator and a grocery suggestions app.

01 / EMPATHIZE

Research

We conducted user research interviews where we discovered the frequency of one calling back home due to not remembering what is currently in their pantry.

Interview Plan

Goal: We wanted to understand whether there was a market for grocery shoppers who always forget to buy something and need help keeping track of their groceries list.

First, to gain insights about the potential users, we created a survey and sent it out to 31 people. Out of these 31 people, we have found out that 19 of the participants shop 4 times a month or more, and 51% of those people are very likely to call someone back home to check what they need to buy. From there, we wanted to learn more about what some of their user behaviors were, how they feel, and how we can potentially solve this problem for the users. Therefore, our group has chosen 4 people to conduct user interviews using Zoom.

Proto Persona

To get started on an idea of who LISTr’s users are, I used everything I have learned from my secondary research to create a proto-persona.

User Persona

We came up with Clara as our user persona to get a clear idea of who LISTr's users will be.

02 / DEFINE & IDEATE

User Insight & Problem Statement

Brainstorm and Ideation Process

After conducting the user research interviews, we were able to brainstorm and ideate what our potential users will be looking for when they open our app.

Feature Prioritization Matrix

After using the “I like…, I wish…,What If…” Ideation Method to brainstorm ideas from the perspective of the present, the near future, and the distant future, we gathered and grouped all ideas according to their impact and complexity. Then we placed these ideas into the Feature Prioritization Matrix to identify the problems to address the user's needs.

Value Proposition

We made sure the product focuses primarily on the values and needs of the user. We had discovered that a system that automatically makes recommendations based on past grocery lists could lead to quick and efficient grocery trips. However, there is a major pain point to consider, like forgetting to update your grocery list weekly.

Storyboard

We created a Storyboard to illustrate our user's situation and scenario.

03 / PROTOTYPE & TESTING

Lo-Fi Wireframe Sketches

Using my understanding of the user, our goals, the architecture, and the user’s interaction with the app, I made informed decisions on how to design LISTr's screens by sketching low-fidelity wireframes in Figma.

Guerrilla-Testing Plan

Key Learnings from User Testing

From the Guerrilla User testing, we were able to understand the flaws in our app that would hinder it from working to the best of its ability. Some key findings were that It was not easy to fill out the grocery list and users were unsure what the purpose of some symbols were, specifically (!).

Hi-Fi Prototype

Taking my revised wireframes, I now worked on creating the high-fidelity prototype. With LISTr's objectives defined, I worked on making the user flow as intuitive and easy as possible.

04 / REFLECTION & NEXT STEPS

1. FURTHER
PROTOTYPING

2. NEW FEATURES

We picked a very specific user flow to focus on for this project. Further development of the project can include more extensive prototyping and user testing.

The scope of the project had to be small and precise given the time constraints. Other features that could be added to the app include recipe recommendations based on the grocery list.
